Incense Cedar is our strongest and most nuanced scent. Deep, complex, and mildly spicy, with notes of black pepper and crushed ginger through warm, dry cedar and fresh sawdust - the characteristic scent of the eastern Cascades and the Sierra Nevada.

Incense Cedar (Calocedrus decurrens) grows in mixed-conifer forests from California into southern Oregon. It is drought tolerant, straight grained, and aromatic, valued for rot-resistant lumber and classic pencil wood. The aroma is deep and mildly spicy, with clean cedar shavings, fresh sawdust, and crushed ginger, finishing warm with a quiet chai-like impression.
