I spent a few years doing that most Pacific Northwest of occupations, working in a sawmill. The mill is long gone, but Hunter's Ponderosa Pine Beard Oil takes me right back to that time and place. It's like walking into the mill and smelling all the lumber on its way to the kilns. It's like the steaming aroma of opening those kilns at the end of the drying cycle. If you like the scent of the south and eastern Oregon forests, look no further. Hunter has bottled it for us.

I have tried maybe a solid dozen beard oils and balms that all claim to be 'natural' and smell like the tree or plant or herb they use in the name...only most smell like baby powder and castor beans and some weird synthetic extrapolation that Ai concocted. This one, though a 'little' bright and floral, really does smell like a very fresh cut ponderosa pine tree. I guess, more accurately, freshly cut ponderosa pine needles, which yea...is different than the tree! It's light in texture, not oily and slimy, and it shifts in scent down a bit more depending on your chemistry.
I'd like it a bit more masculine and maybe more tobacco/leather undertones. Actually, if you ever smelled a smouldering ponderosa pine stump, and the 'tar' that comes out during a wildfire and made a scent from that...I WOULD BUY A VAT OF IT! Give me a shout, I actually have some scavenged samples from my last wildfire in Central Oregon!

I use these beard oils for dry hair and my beard. They make hair glisten and softer as well as smelling like the woods on a warm day. Both this and the Incense Cedar are great. I’m planning to try them all.

I purchased the beard oil after seeing an ad on social media. The order was processed and delivered quickly. The beard oil is a good value for the quantity. The oil provides good hydration for the skin under my beard, preventing it from flaking and drying out. The scent is great. Unlike other "sweeter" smelling cedar scents, the incense cedar essential oil provides a moderate scent that refreshes with a splash of water when needed. It has the rich, woodsy aroma of a live cedar tree. Great product.

The reactivates-with-water thing is something I love about the incense cedar - those spice and wood compounds really bloom when your skin is damp. And you nailed the distinction - our incense cedar is distilled from the actual tree, so it has that live, complex character rather than the flat sweetness you get in a lot of cedar-scented products. Finally, Rogue Evergreens made the products I've been seeking for a decade! These beard oils smell like the trees from which they are derived, not like "pine scented" household cleaner or car air freshener. The scent is robust without being overpowering and it mellows nicely over the day. As a bonus, the carrier oil seems very high quality and keeps my beard and underlying nicely hydrated. I distill straight from wild-harvested Pacific Northwest conifers, and the goal has always been to get the real tree in the bottle, not the idea of a tree. I actually tried 4 of the beard oils. But I liked this one the most - by far. It's perfect fragrance concentration with a nice, authentic Douglas-fir scent. Some of the others can be overpowering but this will make the rotation for sure.

I absolutely love this beard oil. The scent reminds me of hiking in the woods in Northern Michigan. Beyond the great scent, the oil works very well to keep the beard soft. Oil dries in more of a matte finish— it doesn’t leave my beard overly shiny. Highly recommend and I’ll definitely be purchasing more of this beard oil in the future.

This is so good. It’s light and bright, very clean feeling, not greasy at all. The scent is amazing… more cedar and citrus on the front with a touch of smoke on the back end. Beautiful scent and it carries on me through the day.

Having grown up on a ranch in the Sierras where Ponderosa was dominant, but living in the Northwoods of New England now, I have to say this one has my head swimming with nostalgia. I just got it in the mail today and after applying a bit to my beard I can't stop cupping my hands to my face, inhaling, and being transported to my childhood spring and summer. It's literally like smelling my work gloves after a day of clearing treefall on the ranch. INCREDIBLE stuff.
