If pine scents have put you off before, Ponderosa will change your mind. On a warm day the bark of a big Ponderosa Pine smells like butterscotch and vanilla down in the furrows, and the essential oil carries that character: notes of warm wood and sticky pine resin, butterscotch, honey, and citrus, with a sweet anise thread underneath. Soft and round - nothing like the sharp stereotypical pine scent many expect.

This is 100% pure Ponderosa Pine essential oil, steam-distilled in small batches here in Oregon from fresh needles & twigs. Nothing added, nothing cut. In a diffuser, expect deep, mellow, and almost caramel-like - a scent that warms up a room and evokes memories of the dry side of the Pacific Northwest.

100% Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa) essential oil.

Diffuse 4 to 6 drops per 100 mL water. For home scenting, add a drop to an unscented wool dryer ball or a cotton pad for linens, avoiding direct contact with finished wood and plastics. This is pure, undiluted essential oil and is not a skin product. For skin, the body oils, beard oils, and rollers are made for that.

For external use only. Not for skin. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes. Not for use on pets. Keep out of reach of children. Flammable, keep away from heat and flame. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult a qualified professional before use. Store tightly capped in a cool, dark place.

Ponderosa Pine defines the dry, open forests east of the Cascades and across much of the interior West. Its thick, puzzle-like bark and tall, widely spaced stands reflect an ecology shaped by frequent low-intensity fire. Culturally it is a hallmark western lumber species. The aroma leans to warm wood and ambered resin with natural citrus and honey undertones and a subtle anise seed note, not the sharp “pine” many expect.

Not ponderosa pine smellinb

Smells exsctly like crushed walnut leaves or outer green hulls. Not even faintly close to ponderosa pine. Do not recommend.

This oil is magnificent. It brought such a bright sweet and little citrus to my blend. Though it's totally good on its own, I am using this to capture my idea of a recent trip to South Dakota. I highly recommend!

Smells just like the mountains

I used this to make my own beard oil and I absolutely love it (and so does my wife). I also like to throw a few drops in my morning shower to help wake me up.
The smell takes me right back to archery season here in western CO, sitting under a big ponderosa. I absolutely will be buying again.
